Mini: Old vs New

The mini is a small economy car, first produced in 1959. The original is considered an icon of 1960’s. Its space-saving transverse engine and front wheel drive layout allows 80% of the area of the car to be used for passengers and luggage. This influenced a generation of car makers. In 1999, the Mini was voted the second-most influential car of the 20th century.  

Classic mini Equinox

 


This Mini Equinox was produced in 1996. A limited edition mode, as 750 of these cars have ever been produced and only around 130-140 are still on the road currently in the UK. An absolute classic 2 door saloon and although it is considered an older car with less ability to perform compared to a newer model, it is still a quality motor and this version has numerous improved features compared to the range introduced beforehand. These include a single-point fuel injection, rear inertia-reel seat belts, radio-cassette with removable front panel, chrome locks and a remote-activated alarm/immobiliser. The Mini has a 1,275cc petrol engine with a top speed of 88mph, reaching 0-60mph in around 13 seconds. My overall opinion of this car is very high – it is smart, individual and rare making it stand out amongst the rest.

Mini Cooper Clubman

 


Here we have the Mini Cooper Clubman. This motor is considered alongside premium hatchbacks rather than small estates. It is a MINI that can genuinely be used as a proper family car, all while still being great to drive. With a 2 litre engine in this particular model it proves to have significantly more power than people might first think. Comfort levels are high as it is a modern 2017 made car and people buy it because of its exterior looks alone. The Clubman has it’s retro design features along with multiple modern touches as well. It is an exciting hatchback with a unique double door arrangement at the back seen in the image below, meaning people are not disappointed with its carrying capacity, especially for a Mini. It is an excellent mix of a small estate and a family car giving people many reasons to purchase the special Mini Cooper Clubman.
